Individual Therapy for Cycle Breakers
You can understand where the pattern came from and still be ready to stop repeating it.
Maybe you know exactly what you want to work on. Or maybe you just know that something keeps happening.
You keep ending up in relationships where you take care of everyone else. You understand your childhood intellectually, but your body still reacts as though you're back there. You struggle to set boundaries without feeling guilty. You accomplish what you're supposed to accomplish and still wonder why it never quite feels like enough.
Sometimes becoming a cycle breaker starts with recognizing:
I understand why I learned to live this way. I just don't want to keep living this way.
Individual therapy can give you space to understand how your experiences shaped you, tend to what still hurts, and build different ways of relating to yourself and the people around you.
Start with a complimentary 15-minute consultation.
Sometimes the Pattern Made Sense
What looks like a problem now may have started as a way of adapting.
Being fiercely independent can make sense when depending on other people hasn't felt safe. Keeping everyone happy can help preserve connection. Staying productive can create a sense of control. Shutting down during conflict can protect you when speaking up hasn't felt safe or useful.
Understanding where a pattern came from matters.
But understanding it doesn't mean you have to keep living inside it.
Therapy creates room to get curious about what your experiences, relationships, and nervous system taught you while also asking:
Does this still work for the life you're trying to build now?
What Brings People to Individual Therapy?
FAMILY-OF-ORIGIN PATTERNS
You understand where some of your patterns began, but aren't sure how to stop repeating them.
PEOPLE PLEASING & OVERFUNCTIONING
You're often the capable one, the helper, the fixer, or the person everyone depends on.
RELATIONSHIP PATTERNS
You notice familiar dynamics showing up again in romantic relationships, friendships, family, or work.
ATTACHMENT & EMOTIONAL SAFETY
Closeness, vulnerability, conflict, rejection, or depending on others can feel more complicated than you want them to.
BOUNDARIES & GUILT
You know you need limits, but setting them brings guilt, anxiety, or fear of disappointing people.
LIFE TRANSITIONS & IDENTITY
Parenthood, caregiving, relationships, loss, career changes, or other transitions have you reconsidering who you are and how you want to live.
Cycle Breaking Isn't About Blame
Cycle breaking doesn't require deciding that everything your family did was wrong.
And understanding why someone became who they became doesn't require minimizing the ways their choices affected you.
Both things can be true.
We can understand the context surrounding what happened and still make room for its impact. We can have compassion for ourselves without using our history to excuse patterns that hurt us or other people. And we can recognize that something once helped us survive without deciding it needs to follow us forever.
The goal isn't to find someone to blame. It's to understand the pattern well enough to have more choice about what happens next.

How Individual Therapy Works
01
Start With Your Story
Individual therapy begins with a 90-minute initial assessment. This gives us enough time to understand what brings you to therapy, the experiences and relationships that have shaped you, what's happening now, and what you hope might become different.
02
Understand the Pattern
Together, we begin connecting what is happening now with the experiences, relationships, beliefs, coping strategies, and nervous-system responses that may be contributing to it.
Understanding the pattern isn't about getting stuck in the past. It's about making the present make more sense.
03
Practice Something Different
Insight matters, but insight alone doesn't always change what happens when you're triggered, overwhelmed, disconnected, or back inside an old relationship dynamic.
Depending on what you need, our work may include relational, attachment-focused, somatic, trauma-processing, and other evidence-based approaches designed to help change become possible outside the therapy room.

Individual Therapy for Cycle Breakers
You Don't Have to Keep Becoming Who You Needed to Be Back Then.
The ways you learned to survive, belong, achieve, stay connected, or keep everything together may have made sense once.
You can understand where those patterns came from while deciding what still belongs in the life you're building now.
